Difficult Goals are the Perfect HARD GOALS

Today we conclude with our last of the series of HARD GOALS.

So far, we have explored how necessary it is for us to have an internal desire, see the outcome with our imagination, and then do what is needed. Today we will briefly prepare ourselves for the bumps along the road. Prepare yourself for this – most goals worth reaching are not easy to accomplish. Prepare for the difficult challenges ahead.

How To Balance Visualization (Animation) With Difficult

Most great gifts come with exacting effort, even sacrifice. Sometimes people wonder how to visualize success without getting stuck in the mud of difficulty.  We could define the mud as the space between where you are now and where you want to be, your goal.

When we use our inner eyes to visualize the outcome we sincerely desire – we are beginning by seeing the result. Covey explains the meaning in his renowned book on personal growth and accomplishment, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People:

Begin With the End in Mind means to begin each day, task, or project with a clear vision of your desired direction and destination, and then continue by flexing your proactive muscles to make things happen.

Take a closer look.  The process does not exclude difficulty; it overcomes the tough challenges with commitment, determination, and daily action.

See Yourself Overcoming the Obstacles

To pretend that there will be no mountains to climb is setting yourself up for failure.

There will be mountains – maybe floods too, that either overtax you or overrun you – leaving you to think you cannot succeed.

And this is the very moment to touch success; You see the trouble, feel the pain, and carry on.

It’s possible that you may suffer inconvenience and even humiliation. But the winner in you picked yourself up, muddy from the waters and bruised from the outcroppings, and started walking. Sure, it may be a slow crawl at first, but you, being willing to succeed – keep stepping.

You can rely upon those animated moments where you see yourself crossing the finish line, bloodied and all.

Don’t Be Afraid to Set Difficult Goals

You don’t want things to be so challenging that you give up, any more than you would like to feel so unchallenged that you stop trying.

Ask anyone you like to tell you about their most significant accomplishments. They will undoubtedly tell you that they were painful, required lots of effort to learn new skills, caused nervousness, and excited them about the process and the achievement itself.

People beam with pride when they remember past success. Even years later, the joy continues. They are likely to add that they consider themselves a better person, parent, wife, or husband for having accomplished the H.A.R.D goal.  And somehow, now, it makes no difference to them how difficult the goals were to achieve.

Good luck to you as you pursue the goals that matter to you!
