No More Time? Finally, Leadership lessons in less than 5 minutes!
For several months my team and I have been producing a catalog of microlearning leadership lessons.
Allow me to introduce the idea to you and to explain what they are and how they work. We won’t stop there; I’ll show you what they look like too!
While microlearning is not a new concept, it is now being talked about as another significant approach to train staff. It is an ideal tool to help embed the learning back in the workplace and for knowledge at the moment of need.
No Time for Workshops, Seminars, or Courses?
For the time-poor employee with immediate needs, microlearning leadership sessions are ideal.
Some learning and development professionals are against these 1-to-3-minute sessions, suggesting that there is no way to provide real value and that nothing can be learned at any depth in such a short space of time.
But deep learning is not the point.
Microlearning is not meant to replace other methods.
Many people find microlearning a viable, practical solution to providing development at scale and the moment of need.
Our Microlearning Leadership Sessions are the contents of our Leadership Development Programs broken down into short 3-minute, bite-size sessions. They are available online anytime a subscriber (student) needs them. In my opinion, the term microlearning is not just limited to video – it is simply anything that condenses learning into manageable absorption.
When a person is ready for a more in-depth resource, we have options: Sonar Leadership and our newly designed Leadership Accelerator Program Online.
Fiore Microlearning provides essential knowledge that you need, when you need it, without impacting your current workload and schedule
After all, we all have a day job!
Research is Compelling
Compelling research providing statistical data shines further light on microlearning. Understanding when and how people learn and how technologies can be implemented makes microlearning very appealing for organizations.
- A Dresden University study found improvement by microlearning increases retention over traditional training by 32%.
- According to Deloitte, the average employee has time to devote 1% of their working week to development. That’s a mere 4.8 minutes per day.
- Cisco’s research states, in 2021, video presentations will be responsible for 80% of the Internet’s traffic in the world.
- According to Forester, 75% of today’s tech-savvy employees watch a video rather than read emails, documents, or web articles.
- The Journal of Applied Psychology reports that learning in bite-sized pieces makes learning from the classroom to the desk almost 20% more efficient.
- In the Boyette study, the percentage of learning and development professionals who said that they would prefer microlearning to traditional time-consuming eLearning courses is a whopping 94%! (They say the learners prefer it)
- Research by the Aberdeen Group states that Best-in-Class organizations are 60% more likely to consider microlearning effective for employee development.
Fiore Group Microlearning Leadership Lessons
So, based on all of that terrific data, we decided to focus our latest efforts on creating a catalog of over 100 microlearning sessions that we call Bitesize Learning.
You can download our catalog, Fiore Group Training Bitesize Learning, which contains the categories and the titles of the BiteSized Learning videos. We have a wide range of topics covered, from how to coach people to how to have difficult conversations all the way into developing emotional intelligence.
For the next couple of months in the Living Leadership post, we will include one Bitesize Learning moment. The Bitesize Learning segment will relate to the topic I discuss as a way of providing supplemental learning.
Organizations interested in acquiring the entire video content of Bitesize Learning, or perhaps certain portions of the extensive video catalog, can contact us for pricing options. Every lesson is customizable and can be branded for the organization.
And Now, Introducing Bitesize Learning
These past few months have been exciting for Fiore Group Training, despite the global turmoil created by the pandemic.
We launched our Leadership Accelerator Program in its online format, now in use by hundreds of students. Each one of those students has personalized weekly accountability opportunities.
And now, we are excited to share with you our Bitesize Learnings!
As your first introduction, please enjoy Create and Maintain a Positive Focus.
And of course, please share with everyone that you feel might be interested.
