Let’s Grow Together in 2024

I love stories and wanted to end 2023 by sharing one with you.

It’s the story of Fiore Group Training Inc. and our hopes for 2024.

How we grew from a small hobby on the side of my policing career 25 years ago to a full-service training and consulting business from which our team facilitated and delivered 362 training workshops in 2023.

You read that correctly. 

362.

That tells me that we are providing a meaningful service that our clients value.

The origin story of Fiore Group Training has its roots in 1999.

Then, I began what was simply a side hustle on the side of my law enforcement career.

When my very first contract to deliver Workplace Violence Prevention training workshops was with the largest passenger ferry company in the world, I thought I had simply been lucky.

I have since changed my mind about luck.

I am now completely on board with Oprah Winfrey (“I believe luck is preparation meeting opportunity. If you hadn’t been prepared when the opportunity came along, you wouldn’t have been lucky.”), Bruce Springsteen (“When it comes to luck, you make your own.”) and Brian Tracy (“Luck is predictable. The harder you work, the luckier you get.”).

We continue to deliver training to that same client some 25 years later – something our team is incredibly proud of.

And as a result of working with that A-List client, our business grew and grew.

Fiore Group Training evolved again when we incorporated and went from something that was on the side of my full-time career to a serious business.

We took on consultant trainers, hired an executive assistant, and also reached out to all of those other specialists businesses rely on to navigate the corporate world and keep our company’s name in front of the people who might be looking for our services.

We have been in business for 25 years – our sole mission is To Create Incredibly Better And Safer Workplaces

With over 15,000 LinkedIn connections, a weekly Living Leadership newsletter I have written for the last twelve years, which is now delivered to over 2,000 subscribers, and a healthy SEO presence, we strive to remain present – when people need us.

In 2024, we will increase that presence. 

Every year at this time, we sit down and complete a strategic review of our journey to date, asking ourselves, “How did we get here?” and “Where do we want to go now?”’ 

I have kept a personal journal since 1998. Measuring progress is something I am very familiar with – not only in terms of how the process works but also the incredible benefits realized as a result of the endeavor. 

The activity provides a roadmap for your future and allows you to reflect on the value of the decisions you have taken to get to where you are now. It is critical to understand which decisions have been positive and which have provided….well, let’s just call them learning opportunities.

That should tell you that not every decision we have made has been featured on the cover of Forbes, MIT Sloan, or Harvard Business Review magazines! We have made a couple of wrong turns, to be sure. But we continually learn from those decisions.

Overall, though, we continue to make strategically smart and sensible decisions – and every single year, we have experienced growth.

Since day one, we have concentrated on building lasting relationships with our clients, ensuring we understand and respond to their pain points and often unique workplace environments. 

Ours is not the sort of business you can grow by hiring hire sales people to make cold calls on behalf of. 

We have grown by always being there when our clients need us, always willing to go ten extra miles to make sure we over-deliver every time, and always looking for creative ways to help people improve their workplace culture and, therefore, every employee’s workplace experience.

We continue to take enormous pride in the fact that we help people every day. That is at the very core of why we exist. 

We are here to help our clients and the staff who work for them experience healthier and safer workplaces.

We accomplish this by providing amazing regulatory training experiences through our stable of incredible facilitators. But we also achieve it by focusing on delivering supervisory, managerial, and leadership training workshops. In addition, we also deliver one-on-one coaching.

When you take on the role of supervisor or leader, the Duty of Care you acquire means different things to different people. Some view it as a responsibility. It is, but I have always seen it as an opportunity. 

What is not in question is that there is a legal and moral obligation to care for your team. We design and deliver experiences aimed at challenging participants to grow, evolve, and ultimately craft workplace environments where their staff can show up and be the best version of themselves. That is a noble and achievable goal.

In 2023, we added several highly relevant new training workshops to our core group of offerings.
